5 Ways to Make Your Workouts More Exciting

Get back to work!

Often I see many girls at the gym working hard, but in between sets, resting for too long. You should always rest, but give yourself a set amount of time, to avoid your heart rate from dropping too far. Push yourself to limit rest to 1 minute between sets. You will also find this will drastically shorten your workouts. It’s a win win!

Train with your girls, but only if you can focus

Heading to a workout with a girl friend is uber fun…but only if you are actually focusing on the exercise. It can be easy to get caught up in last weekends gossip and forget that you are there to sweat! So keep it fun, but at the same time focus on the fitness.

Update your tunes 

I can’t stress enough how much music makes a difference in your workout. Find some up-beat songs that keep you pushing hard. Check out my workout playlist or get spotify / Pandora for your phone. It’s free to use their radio, and you might just discover a new artist you love.

Keep track of your achievements

If you are doing circuit training, such as my bikini guide, or even just regular cardio, take note of your reps and times each session. The next time you do the workout, compare it to your previous results. Often we don’t see the change in our bodies right away, but our actual performance level is improving. Keep track to continually motivate yourself, and prove that the time you put in is working!

Increase the weight

Our bodies naturally want to do what is easy and less strenuous, so if in your routine you start to find yourself less winded, it’s time to turn it up a notch. If you are not using weights, try adding some, or if you are, take it up a few kgs. Change your knee pushups to toe pushups. Try doing plank. Continue challenging your body, and you might be surprised of what it’s capable of.

Remember to always have FUN during your workouts. Exercise and eating well is about more than just looking good. Create some more excitement using the tips above, and stick to your routine! You will start to see the results from your hard work in no time.
