Summer Fruit-Infused Water Recipe

We all know our bodies need water to function, and to help with muscle recovery. But sometimes the occasion calls for something a little more exciting! That’s why I love to add fruit to my water when I’m celebrating with friends and family.

Being properly hydrated will help your body to function at its best. When you are hydrated, you may not feel tired and even hunger may be subsided. However, so many people don't drink enough water in the day.

The recommended water intake is 8 cups of water (a standard cup size in Australia is 250ml) a day for an adult, and this amount will increase if you are exercising, or if it is a warmer day.

If you are one of those people that struggles to drink water because you find it boring, or because you prefer the taste of soda - I have some recipes to help you stay hydrated, including my all-time favourite Summer Fruit-Infused Water!

Summer Fruit-Infused Water

If you resolved to cut back on soft drink or caffeine this year, then this fruit-infused water is definitely worth a try! It’s so refreshing and delicious, I know you’re going to love it!

Prep time: 5 mins

Total time: 5 mins + 1-2 hours chilling time
Serves: makes 1 litre or 4 serves

These four fruit infused water combos are the BEST! It is so easy to make them in a drink bottle — just choose one that has a wide mouth so you can easily fit all the fruit into it.

Here are some of my favourite ideas for fruit infused water:

1. Raspberry and lemon

In a jug, combine the water (still or sparkling), one sliced lemon and approximately 10 raspberries. This combination is super refreshing and zingy!

2. Cherry and lime

In a jug, combine the water (still or sparkling), one sliced lime and 10 cherries. Just remember to take the pits out of the cherries! This combination is the perfect substitute for a sweet soda.

3. Grapefruit and rosemary

In a jug, combine the water (still or sparkling), one sliced grapefruit and two sprigs of rosemary. This combination is super refreshing and adds a great twist to plain lemon water.

4. Blackberry and orange

In a jug, combine the water (still or sparkling), one sliced orange and 10 blackberries. This is a delicious combo that tastes even better if you crush the blackberries slightly before adding them to the water.

Try these fruit-infused water ideas or get creative with your own!

You can drink these daily to add some variety to your water, and they are also perfect served at parties. To get the best flavour out of your fruit infused water, I recommend to leave them to infuse for at least four hours in the fridge before drinking them. The longer you leave them, the stronger the flavour. You can also choose to use still or sparkling water, both giving a different taste!

If you have trouble remembering to drink water throughout the day, try putting one of these flavour combinations on your desk. Not only do they look pretty but it will also encourage you to sip more water as the day progresses too.

All of these fruit-infused water ideas are super simple to make, and you might be surprised by how big a difference it can make in keeping you hydrated.
