4 Post-Workout Protein Smoothie Recipes!

Posted by Kayla at

Do you always finish a workout and feel ravenous? If you’ve worked your muscles super hard during your workout, they need to be refueled and feeling hungry can be their way of telling you this! What you eat after your workout makes a huge difference to your healthy lifestyle.  In order to get the most out of your body, you need to treat it correctly. Driving down to the nearest take away shop may not be the best way to replenish your muscles and help your body recover in time for your next workout.

I love making smoothies because they are super easy to throw together and take no time at all - perfect for when post-workout hunger strikes!

These four protein packed smoothie recipes are some of my favourites:

Berry Orange Creamsicle
Berry Orange Creamsicle Smoothie
This smoothie is nice and refreshing! My tip for freezing bananas is to chop them up and place them in a freezer friendly bag so you aren’t battling your way through thepeel of a frozen banana!

1 frozen banana
1 cup of blueberries
1 orange, peeled and chopped into pieces
¼ cup rolled oats
⅓ cup low-fat greek yoghurt

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a glass or shaker and enjoy! If you smoothie is a little too thick, add a few ice cubes.

Tropical Green Machine

If you aren’t a fan of ‘green’ juices, this one is perfect because the tropical flavours of mango and banana mask the taste of the green ingredients so well!

1 cup coconut water
½ cup baby spinach
1 frozen banana
¾ cup frozen mango chunks
1 tsp spirulina
1tbsp chia seeds

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.  Pour into a glass or shaker and enjoy!

1 cup milk of your choice
1 tbsp raw cacao powder
¼ cup rolled oats
1 tbsp peanut butter
1 frozen banana
1 tbsp chia seeds
1 scoop chocolate whey protein powder (optional)
1-3 ice cubes

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a glass or shaker and enjoy!

Strawberry Banana Smoothie
Strawberry Banana Protein Blast
If you are a fan of berry smoothies, this one is so delicious! The peanut butter gives it a nutty taste that takes it to the next level.

1 frozen banana
1 cup milk of choice
½ cup chopped strawberries
¼ cup low-fat greek yoghurt
1 tbsp peanut butter

Blend all ingredients together until smooth.

Remember to get creative, girls! There are so many different ways to  protein into your diet, these smoothies are just a few examples.
