Starting my Bikini Body Training Guide, or any new exercise regime for that matter, can be quite daunting. You may be doubting your ability or feel like you’re not fit enough. At the same time, it is also a really exciting time! You are full of motivation and are ready to kickstart your new, healthy lifestyle. For most people, the first few weeks can seem really easy. You’re getting up early, you’re training most days of the week, you’re eating healthy. Then you hit the four week mark and you feel like your motivation is starting to slip away. You begin doubting yourself and your abilities again. You begin to choose sleep over training. And you begin eating whatever you want whenever you want. While some people are able to pull themselves out of this slump, others may choose to give up on the program and stop exercising altogether. This scenario is very common, especially if you are new to exercise. While it is perfectly normal to feel overwhelmed, I’ve provided you with some tips to help you push through and get past these barriers:
So you ask “How do I stick to the Bikini Body Training Guide (BBG)”?
If you aren’t following my Bikini Body Training Guide, these tips will also help you no matter what type of fitness program or exercise schedule you are trying to follow!
If you aren’t used to exercising regularly, diving straight into my Bikini Body Training Guide can be challenging. This is why I have added a 4 week pre-training program to help prepare you and your body for what is to come. I understand that it can be hard to stick to a program to begin with because you aren’t used to including those things in your daily routine. So my most important tip would be to be consistent! This means even on those mornings when you are feeling less than fab and don’t really have the motivation, do it anyway (unless you’re sick or run down). After all, training at a level that is slightly less than your best is still better than not training at all! Before you know it, exercising will become a habit and those resistance sessions will be as normal as showering each day. Even if you are not following my Bikini Body Training Guide program, consistency is still very important! Whether you are trying to walk more each week or attend gym classes, just do it!
Get Excited & Tell People!
This is a great tip because it keeps you accountable. If you voice your health and fitness goals to your friends and family, they can encourage you on your journey and push you when you might be lacking in motivation. Many people who start my guide find it helpful to tell their family and friends because they receive extra support, whether that be in the form of less invites to go eat dessert or just general encouragement. If you don’t have many supportive people around you, try start a Pinterest or Instagram page dedicated to your journey! You can make this private if you don’t wish to share it with others, but posting about your meals, exercises and progress photos can be a way to help you stay motivated!
Take Bikini Body Guide Progress Pictures
I feel like so many people have put emphasis on tracking their progress by measuring their weight on the scale, and I don’t believe that is the best or most accurate way to do this. I always tell girls who follow the Bikini Body Guides to take progress pictures every four weeks. This is because sometimes changes aren’t noticeable until we compare them to previous pictures. Many people who follow my guides don’t actually notice a huge change in weight simply due to the fact their body has lost fat and gained muscle, which I believe is the key to a fit, strong body. Taking progress photos will also give you something to work towards. If you are in a slump around Week 4, try your hardest to push yourself for the next 4 weeks until it is time to take that next picture. The same goes for any exercise routine you are following, never just rely on the scale to determine the success of your efforts.
Do Not Compare Yourself
I think this point is super important and relates to most girls. It can be SO easy to get caught up in comparing yourself to others, whether it be your favourite celebrity or the BBG girl you have been following on Instagram. Everybody is different and we all have different strengths and weaknesses. You can quickly become unhappy and unmotivated if you are constantly comparing yourself to someone else. You may be someone that feels proud after finishing the circuit 3 times in 7 minutes or you may be proud for simply finishing the 7 minutes at all. No matter which girl you are, you have to remember you are doing an AMAZING job! It’s not about ‘beating’ someone else, or finishing more reps than them, it is about working as hard as YOU can. Push YOUR body for YOURSELF and you will soon develop a healthy routine in which you look forward to beating your previous efforts. The beauty of my guides is that they allow you to work at your own pace and intensity. No matter what way you do it, as long as you are putting in 100%, that is all that counts.
The one sentence you need to remember is this: Don’t find time, make time. It is literally SO easy to say “Oh I can’t workout today because I have plans with a friend” or “I am so busy today, I just don’t have any time to workout”. Ditch these thoughts ASAP! If you are serious about sticking to my guides, or any workout for that matter - you need to be prepared to make it a priority. Many people seem to think this is hard to do, but if you think about how you shower and brush your teeth daily and can find time for that, exercise should be the same. The best thing about my workouts is that they are only 28 minutes each. You can fit this in at night, morning or even on your lunch break! Once you develop a routine it will become easier. Try to think of exercise as a non-negotiable part of your day, and it will become easier to complete.
Join The Online BBG Community
I touched on starting an Instagram account before, but if you don’t want to make it public or put your photos out there, there are still plenty of ways to connect with other girls completing the guides. Whether you connect via message or simply scroll through the hashtag #BBG, this community is uplifting and inspiring. You might be surprised to see that many of the girls have faced and have overcome the same struggles that you are currently facing! The best way to stick to something is to surround yourself with positive people who are going to encourage you and support you!
I hope these tips have helped, girls. I know it can be daunting and overwhelming at first, but immerse yourself in the BBG community, stick to it and picture the outcome! Exercising should be FUN and enjoyable. Yeah sure, doing the burpee will suck, but think about how proud and happy you will feel after with all those endorphins rushing through your veins!
