How To Live a Healthy Lifestyle Post 12-Week Challenge

We’re getting close to the end of the 12-Week Challenge, girls! You’ve all done such an amazing job, and you CAN keep up the lifestyle changes after the challenge is done.

I know motivation is usually reasonably high during the challenge because there is an endpoint in sight. Once the 12 weeks are up, good intentions can fade, leaving the temptation to fall back into old habits. Here are some tips to help you continue with a healthy lifestyle long after you’ve finished the challenge!

Find the things you enjoy
One reason some people skip out on a new workout routine is because they dislike it. It’s hard to keep doing something you have started to hate. The best way to work around this is to ask yourself what you enjoyed after each workout. Did you enjoy using dumbbells? Find a way to include more exercises with dumbbells into your routine. Once you start doing workouts you enjoy, you might find it easier to keep going.

Keep your gym bag in sight
The saying ‘out of sight, out of mind’ is so true! While you’ve been doing the 12-Week Challenge, hopefully eating well and exercising regularly has become somewhat of a routine. If you see your gym bag the minute you get out of bed, that’s a great reminder to go workout. Likewise, seeing healthy meals in the fridge can make eating well a much easier habit to keep up.

Know your weaknesses
I’m yet to meet anyone that doesn’t have a weakness for something! If you’ve tried following an exercise program before and had trouble sticking to it, try to figure out what stopped you following through. Did you feel self-conscious going to the gym? Did lack of time stop you making it to workouts? Were you struggling to stay motivated? Whatever the problem, there are steps you can take to help you overcome these problems in the future.

Don’t let a setback make you stop
No one is perfect 100% of the time. Trying to follow every healthy habit all day, everyday, may not be realistic for everyone. And that’s okay! Missing a couple of gym sessions or eating a few unhealthy meals is not the end of the world. Don’t let it get you down. Remind yourself of the reasons why you started the 12-Week Challenge, and get back into your new routine tomorrow. Remember, healthy habits don’t happen overnight. They start to become habits when we do them regularly.

One of the best things about the 12-Week Challenge is it’s an opportunity to learn healthy habits that are MAINTAINABLE. This isn’t a quick fix. The tips and information you learn about eating healthier and exercising can be used every single day. Not to mention, you can continue checking in on the 12-Week Challenge forum for support.

You’ve come a long way since starting the challenge and hopefully you are feeling better than ever! Remember that feeling, it’s fantastic motivation to help you keep going with healthy lifestyle choices long after the 12-Week Challenge is over.
