Simple Ways To Maximise Your Workout

Now that we’re into the first stage of the 12-Week Challenge, I wanted to share some tips with you ladies on how you can make the most of your workouts. These are three really simple adjustments you can make to your training, whether you’re taking part in the challenge or not.

When you’re putting in time and effort for your fitness, you want to make every workout count! These are some easy ways to maximise your workout:

Mind your posture

Your posture is SO important! The muscles and bones in your body (your musculoskeletal system) work together when you move, and good posture is important for reducing the strain placed on joints and ligaments. A problem with your body’s alignment can cause some muscles to take on the load of others, which may throw out the balance! Poor alignment can also make it harder to activate particular muscles, as well as to effectively control them, which may increase the risk of injury. Correct form and posture is important for all styles of training, especially as you aim to progress!

Add variety

While having a regular workout routine is important for your health and fitness, continual repetition can become boring. Image if you kept doing the same exercises day-in, day-out — that can get old pretty quickly, right? Not only that, but it can also lead to a fitness plateau, where you no longer see results from your workouts. As you get further into your workout routine, adding a little variety to workouts can stop you from becoming bored and can help you to keep up the intensity of your training. If you are someone who loves to try new things, then apply that to your workouts! Take a new fitness class or even change the time of day you workout!

Stretch!

I’m sure you’re sick of me talking about stretching, but it is not negotiable in my book! While you might not see results from all of your stretching sessions, I’m sure you can feel them. Stretching can help to increase your circulation and blood flow, it can reduce muscle tightness and help you feel more balanced. Once you’ve finished a workout, stretching the muscles you’ve just worked can also help your body to recover and cool down. Add in some foam rolling and I’ll bet you notice a difference!

I know these seem like minor things and you might not realise just how much of a difference these can make to your workouts. Try to keep these in mind next time you feel as though your workouts aren’t quite as effective as they could be.

Love, Kayla xx
