Get Healthy for You! #BBGStories
Something that I can’t stress enough is that health and fitness is not all about the physical changes. When you’re fit and healthy, you feel good inside and out. For many women, it helps them embrace new adventures and to feel confident to try something new. These two ladies are great examples of this:
Jenny — @ducklingstodumbbells
Jenny says she has always been active. She ran marathons and half-marathons, spin classes, yoga and lots of other workouts. Jenny absolutely loved to run.
After having her son, James, Jenny lost the pregnancy weight quite quickly. Two years later, she had twins, which Jenny feels took a toll on her body. “20 pounds heavier; lunges made my knees crack horribly, my hips so bad after running.” These changes to her body meant that Jenny was not able to run, and she began to feel lost.
Jenny wanted to get back into workouts and to rebuild her muscle. She wanted to feel strong again. “I looked in the mirror and it just wasn’t what I wanted.” Feeling like she wasn’t going to reach the same level of fitness as before her pregnancy, Jenny set a goal of being able to walk upstairs without her knees cracking and to run even a little.
Since following my BBG program, Jenny says she got all of that and then some! “My body is waaaaay more toned, my core is 1000% better, I can lunge and squat NO problem! I walk upstairs without noticing any cracking. It’s really amazing! AND I joined my first 10km run.”
In April 2016, Jenny’s girlfriend mentioned an upcoming run that she thought Jenny might like to do. Jenny had to sadly say no because of her hips. Fast forward to 2017 and Jenny can confidently say yes to being involved in runs again! She is feeling so much stronger and more confident.
As Jenny explains, “I was looking into getting a tummy tuck and it’s NOT even on my radar. I tell you, I never thought I’d have my old self back and I DO! I love, love it!”
Jenny’s story is such a wonderful inspiration for us all! She’s worked hard to improve her mobility and to feel fit and strong again, all while caring for a young family. I’m so proud of you Jenny, keep at it!
Catherine — @letssweatsa
Before starting BBG, Catherine explains that nutrition wasn’t a big concern for her. She would go all day at university without eating, due to her own laziness, and then she would find herself binge-eating at the end of the day. As she explains, it was the lack of knowledge that made it hard for Catherine to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Realising that she needed to take care of herself, Catherine’s dad paid for a gym contract for her. She slowly began to learn more about health and fitness, and then a friend introduced her to my program. Catherine says she has been learning more and more since!
“I have dropped 2 pant sizes since beginning the BBG, but that is just the tip of the progress I have felt.” As Catherine explains, she hasn’t just learned what it means to be healthy, but what it means to be healthy for her! She has even managed to quit smoking, thanks to her healthier lifestyle.
Catherine now loves to cook and prepare meals. She feels as though she has discovered a whole new part of herself. Catherine feels strong within herself as well. She is happy to have made a change FOR herself, not for anyone else.
I love whenever one of my BBG girls gets in touch and I can see the mental changes they have undergone. Catherine got fit and healthy for HERSELF, not because she felt pressure from anyone else.
