Inspirational stories from two amazing women who achieved more than just weight loss through doing the BBG!
This is the lovely Katie who sent me this email:
I was always really thin growing up and in high school I had a super fast metabolism and could eat anything I wanted. As I grew up and my hormones changed my body definitely did a 180. I had to start actually paying attention to what I ate and I started thinking about exercise. I had gotten out of a relationship and that’s when I decided to do something for myself. I just really wanted to become a better version of me. I hated how unconfident I was, how socially awkward I felt, and I barely branched out to meet new people. I tried doing more cardiovascular activities (since I was diagnosed with costochondritis which caused painful inflammation in my torso to pretty much send me to the floor in pain). The condition went away after I did most of my growing but it flared up during physical activity (so I pretty much avoided it). I was determined to manage the condition by strengthening my endurance by slowly getting into cardio and then doing some machines at the gym but nothing structured.
Everything about working out was so foreign and there was so much information out there that I was easily overwhelmed and intimidated. My freshman year of college (in 2014) I found you on Instagram and I said to myself “all of these women did it, and so can I”. It took a while to be comfortable in the gym, but once I found the confidence I do now, I feel unstoppable. I wish I had this mentality about myself years ago. The guide are structured, kept me organized, the workouts were already made for me, and it was easy to follow.
I never thought that by making changes in my life it would impact so many other people. Feeling like I have potential and chances to only be better is incredible. Your BBG honestly helped me find myself, gave me courage and confidence in the gym that I could use in my personal life. It made me want to become more educated about my body and inspired me to study nutrition, it really changed everything in my life for the better.
Thank you so much!

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your workouts (BBG 1&2) and even though you won't have known it - you helped me during some of my darkest days.
I initially started BBG last year, but quickly gave up. I'd just moved in with my boyfriend and I was enjoying all the chocolate and wine that comes from two twenty-somethings living together!
However, in January last year I decided to make a change. Initially this was because I was sick of feeling tired and bloated - but then something else happened. In mid-January, my Grandma died and then 7 days later my Dad collapsed and was rushed to the hospital where we were told he had internal bleeding, multiple organ failure and the likelihood of him pulling through was slim. What followed were horrendous weeks of ICU visits, mental preparation for what was to come and watching, right before my eyes, someone I love have their body give up on them.
At that point I used BBG as a distraction - it was my 'me time'. It was the only space I could escape and just forget about everything that was going on. But, to everyone's disbelief (very slowly) my Dad started to show signs of improvement and that's when I decided I wanted to really start looking after my body. I wanted to treat it kindly and nourish it - you only get one. I watched, first-hand, the affects of alcohol addiction and how years of neglect can impact your body. I never want to go through that. Ever.
I've learnt life isn't about calorie counting and how many pounds you weigh - it's about loving your body, becoming strong mentally and physically, and most of all being happy.
Right now I'm happy to say I have transformed my life. I used to binge drink and eat nothing but rubbish. But now I know life is all about balance. I work out hard (I can now deadlift 55kgs!!) but I also make sure I make time for playing hard too. Which is why next week I'm off for a two-week relaxing holiday!
If I can inspire someone, the way you've inspired me, to look after themselves - I know I would've succeeded in helping change their lives.
