Work Up A Sweat With Kayla! #BBG
These transformation stories from two incredible women and you NEED to read them! Remember, change starts with YOU. Make the change for YOU! You deserve to feel your absolute best.
Kenndall — @kenndallanne
Kenndall is a college student in Canada and she has been studying for the past few years. Kenndall says she was unhappy with what she was studying, which made her feel stressed and felt like it consumed her life. She felt tired constantly, her confidence was low and she generally felt unhappy. During that time, she noticed herself gaining weight.
During a holiday with her boyfriend, Kenndall didn’t want her photo taken. She felt self-conscious and was embarrassed when her boyfriend wanted to take photos of them together. When they arrived home and Kenndall saw how unhappy she looked in her photos, she decided she needed to make a change.
Kenndall began her BBG journey and began exercising using the guides. After following them for some time, she realised that exercise helped her to cope with stress. “Since starting BBG, I have gained confidence and am happy with who I am. I have went from 232 to 185 lbs and a bordering size 18 to a comfortable size 10.”
Following both the BBG workout guide and the nutrition guide, Kenndall is currently on her fourth round of BBG. “I love the challenge it presents, it has made me realise that this is a lifestyle, not a one-time fix. This year has brought a lot of changes and challenges, but this is the happiest and healthiest I have been in 6 years!”
I absolutely LOVE to hear from BBG girls who have made long-term changes for their happiness. Kenndall has embraced a healthy lifestyle and put her health and wellbeing first. I’m so happy to hear this Kenndall, you have achieved some incredible results and you should be SO proud of yourself!
Jennifer — @jblack_bbg.motivated
Jennifer is a 37-year-old mum of two daughters, aged 3 and 4 years. Active for most of her life, Jennifer was a gymnast and then a gymnastics coach for many years. She played lots of sport and during her college years she did regular cardio and some weight lifting.
After college, Jennifer kept up her cardio, but not her weight training. “I lost all of my hard-earned muscle from not being able to afford a gym membership at times, and lack of real motivation, but I stayed in considerably good shape.”
Jennifer got married, then conceived her first daughter in 2011. Her daughter was born in 2012 and her second daughter was born in October 2013. During both pregnancies, Jennifer says she let her health and fitness slip. She stopped strength training and didn’t do as much cardio. While she ate healthily, she indulged some of her cravings as well.
“Oh, did I pay for that! After both pregnancies, I was left weighing about 35 lbs over what I was used to weighing before kids. I weighed 155 lbs and I’m 5’4.”
Jennifer admits she felt extremely overwhelmed. She had a toddler and a baby and knew that she had to take care of herself. She was dealing with severe post-partum anxiety and felt she wasn’t looking after her body.
Feeling uncomfortable, not wanting to look at herself in the mirror and avoiding photos became too much for Jennifer. “God bless my hubby if he posted an unapproved pic of me on social media!!! This is so sad, because I have so very few pictures of myself with my babies at these ages.”
Jennifer says she had no body confidence — in fact, Jennifer says she felt ‘disgust’ for her appearance. She hid under shapeless clothing and sometimes even avoided events because of she felt unhappy in how she looked. “I wore spanx over spanx over more spanx, and was always extremely uncomfortable. I remember laying in a clothes basket crying once because I was so frustrated with not being able to find a single article of clothing I thought looked decent.” Jennifer also says her husband would tell her she looked beautiful and she’d roll her eyes and talk herself down. The way she felt was affecting her quality of life.
Jennifer decided she had to make a change. In January 2015, she made a New Year’s resolution to overhaul the way she was eating. Over the course of the year, Jennifer ate a balanced diet with an occasional cheat meal. She slowly ate less and less meat and became a pescatarian. In that year, she lost 25 lbs.
In January 2016, Jennifer made a resolution to get back into fitness. She wanted to be stronger, to do 50 push-ups in a row, like she could do in college.
When Jennifer first started exercising again, she could barely do 5 push-ups in a row. It was disheartening, but she was determined to keep at it. She started following a 30-day challenge, which used 15 minute workouts every day. Not only do she do every workout, but Jennifer found she wanted to push herself harder.
Three weeks into the challenge, Jennifer found BBG. She started looking into the program and discovered the BBG Community. The transformations and amazing stories inspired Jennifer — she realised she could workout from home and squeeze workouts into her family’s schedule.
Jennifer signed up to the app and started BBG. While the first few weeks of workouts were tough, Jennifer says she pushed through. Sometimes she had to pause, modify exercises or rest, but she kept at it!
Each week, Jennifer became stronger and this helped increase her motivation to keep going. “My body was changing physically and I was noticing all these nice new muscles popping. My mind was changing. I was a happy person!! I wasn’t dreading getting dressed and I wanted to buy new clothes!”
While Jennifer doesn’t workout with someone else, she credits the encouragement of the BBG Community as the biggest reason for sticking to the program. “I have never seen a community of women so encouraging and empowering. They certainly hold you accountable too! I have made countless friends in this community. It’s so amazing to be able to share about workouts, recipes, working out with kids and everything health and fitness with so many awesome women!”
In 37 weeks, Jennifer hasn’t missed a single resistance workout. That’s an amazing achievement! Jennifer says the program has fit into her life and she has made it work for her. Her current short-term goal is to reach her one year anniversary of using BBG, and she has no doubt that is going to happen!
Jennifer has found she has so much energy, and she is active with her daughters every day. Her daughters even love BBG and follow along with some of the workouts! Jennifer’s whole family benefit from her transformation — she looks forward to getting dressed up, and she feels much more positive. Her husband and daughters love seeing her so happy.
Jennifer’s transformation story is so amazing! The healthy lifestyle she is living is something her daughters can pick-up. They will learn the value of looking after their health, and that is such an incredible lesson to pass on to your kids! I’m absolutely thrilled that you love BBG and the BBG Community. Women empowering women!
