Meet BBG Community Member Angela

Angela (she’s @onehappyfitmum on Instagram) is a BOSS!

She’s a mum of five who has been using my BBG program since 2017. Over that time she has increased her strength, fitness and confidence without spending any time in a gym.

Angela has shared so much of her journey with the BBG Community and has inspired so many women — including me — along the way.

These days she is absolutely smashing through her health and fitness goals, but to get to this point, she had to really change her expectations of herself. I know you’ll love getting to know her as much as I did — meet Angela.

‘Exercise is a huge part of my life, but it takes up a small part of my day’

Angela: I live in Tasmania, Australia, on our five-acre property with my husband and our five children. And I study online, as well as [being a] stay at home mum.

Me: What does your day and workout routine look like?

Angela: It starts at 5:30, I get all the kids off to school, clean the house, look after [and] entertain Olive, who's my youngest. And cram in some study during the day; exercise when I can.

Me: How does exercise fit into your life?

Angela: It is a huge part of my life. But it takes up a very small part of my day. A few years ago, I decided it's really, really important. And it's a massive part of my life. But it only generally takes around half an hour of my day.

Me: I love that, I'm gonna steal that line. “It's a big part of my life...”

Angela: Okay, good, yeah.

Me: I love that.

Angela: I work out wherever works for the day. So depending on who is here, what time it is, the weather. I work out in the shed, or where I have a treadmill and a couple of things. Or outside, or in the kitchen, or in the lounge room, or in my bedroom.

Me: What has previously stopped you from working out?

Angela: The first thing was definitely finding something I could do from home. Because leaving to go to a gym where I live was just not an option, timewise. I made a decision to let go of any ridiculous expectations that everything was supposed to be perfect. That the workout was supposed to be perfect. Or my assignment had to be perfect. It was more about doing the things I do because I love them and they make me happy. So making sure they fit in still nicely. So if it means stopping my study for 15 minutes and doing a workout in my pyjamas pants, then that's what it means.

Me: What did you think of the BBG Zero Equipment workout?

Angela: I thought this is gonna test my coordination. That was my first thought. I was excited! I was excited to try it 'cause it was a little bit different as well.

Me: Looking back, what advice would you give yourself?

Angela: I would say: “You are worth every second that you spend on yourself. You are worth all the time it takes. You are worth all the sacrifices.”

Me: You are a self-starter. You are someone that people look up to. And I just think it's incredible. So thanks, Ange.

Angela: Thank you. Thank you for being a beautiful human, and for being part of my life — the best part, the part I'll never, never forget.

Me: Thanks, Ange.

We all have to start somewhere

What I love about Angela’s story is that she recognised that there is no such thing as a “perfect” way to make health and fitness a priority.

All that matters is that you get started and make that commitment to yourself — the best time of day to train or the best place to exercise are what suits YOU.

My BBG Zero Equipment program has been created with this in mind — it’s flexible, and because it requires no equipment, so you can start working towards your own goals anywhere, anytime.
