Meet BBG Community Member Micha

I’ve always been inspired by the BBG Community mums, and I’ve been so excited to speak to women who have made health and fitness part of their lives while also raising kids.

Since having Arna, I really understand what it takes to fit a workout into a busy schedule — it’s a lot, and I’m always SO  proud of BBG Mums who get it done!

I recently spent time getting to know BBG Community member Micha (you can find her on Instagram as @mum_sweatlife), who talked to me about exercising post-pregnancy. I definitely felt lost at different times in my post-partum journey, so I understood what she meant when she told me exercise had helped her find her place in the world and become more confident. I know you’ll be inspired by this amazing BBG Mum’s journey too — meet Micha.

‘I didn't have any sense of purpose — BBG changed that for me’

Micha: My name is Micha Hibel, I am from Brisbane, Australia. I'm a mum of three and I've been doing BBG for almost three years now. I'm a stay-at-home mum at the moment. My husband has two jobs. He's in the Queensland Police and the Australian Army Reserves. He's away a lot — it was easier and better for us as a family for me to stay home.

Me: Why is exercising so important to you?

Micha: I feel like as mums we're always giving, we're always selfless, we're always, you know, doing things for other people, and it's the one thing that I can always count on to make me feel better.

I don't even know how to explain it. Like it's the place where I put myself back together, basically.

Me: What has been the biggest personal barrier you’ve faced in your life?

Micha: I feel like after I had [my youngest child] Lily was the toughest time for me, because I had to adjust to having three kids on my own. And I felt like I didn't really have any purpose. Like, I didn't feel... I felt like I was just a mum.

I didn't have a job, people would be like, "Oh, what do you do?" And I'm like: “I don't know, I'm just a mum.” And so I felt, you know, worthless. I felt like I couldn't do anything right. I felt like I didn't have any sense of purpose, and I felt lonely a lot of the time, and that was really, really hard for me.

And then BBG changed that for me because I started to feel like, you know, when you start to do things that you couldn't do, you know, a week or couple of weeks ago, it really shows you that you are a strong person and that you can do things, and you do have a place in this world.

Me: What did you think of the BBG Zero Equipment workout?

Micha: Even though I saw all the jumps in there, I was like: “Oh yeah, this'll be good.” But it was so hard! Like the first round was so hard on your legs, and then the second round, my arms were burning. And then, yeah, I was so tired by the end of it. I was like, “Wow, this was not easy.” I mean, the workout's only 28 minutes, which is doable for everyone, I think. I think everyone can make that time. No one has any excuse now to not work out.

Me: Looking back, what advice would you give yourself?

Micha: I would tell her that she is so much stronger than she thinks she is right now, and that she's so much more than “just” a mum, and that she can do amazing things and that all she needs to do is believe in herself. I would tell her that things will get better.
