Make Meal Prep Easy With These Never-Fail Food Pairings
food pairings

Making meals doesn’t have to be complicated, even if you are preparing them ahead of time. You don’t need to buy a whole new pantry full of ingredients, just a few flavour combinations can lift any plain dish to help make it delicious!

I know for some of you, the thought of eating the same meal a few times in a row can be really off-putting. So, I decided to share a couple of flavour combinations you can use during weekly meal prep, or pretty much anytime!

Food pairings for easy, delicious meal prep

These are a few never-fail food combinations to try!

Coriander, lime and avocado

This is such an amazing food pairing because it has tang, texture and an amazing smell! The balance of flavours here work really well for both vegetarian and meat-based dishes. Try it as a salsa for tacos, as a topping for grilled salmon or blend the ingredients together to make a sauce you can drizzle over salads.

You can add chilli to these ingredients to make a spicy side dish as well! These chicken skewers with spicy avocado salsa are a great example of how you can combine flavours to enhance grilled meat.

Tomato, fresh herbs and cucumber

This makes such a beautifully simple side dish, which is great to have with turkey, with fish or on top of some rice cakes. The juice from the tomato mixes really well with the cucumber and herbs like oregano, parsley or mint.

Basil, tomato and mozzarella

When it comes to food pairings, sometimes simple is best! Juicy tomato and cheese is always a winner, especially when you add some basil too. You can use these flavours to make a topping for pasta, as a salad to serve alongside chicken or you can pop it on some pita to make a quick pizza.

I even use this combination to make a healthy grilled cheese sandwich, and I have to say, it is DELICIOUS! You can assemble it quickly, which means it’s perfect to take with you for lunch at the office.

Greek yoghurt, cucumber and dill

It’s no surprise that I use Greek yoghurt regularly, so of course it is part of my never-fail flavour combinations! Add some cucumber and dill and you can use it to top grilled meat, as a side for curry or to dip veggie soldiers into.

Add some garlic and lemon juice and you have your very own homemade tzatziki!

The best thing about these flavour combinations is they are really simple, but they can add a gourmet taste to lots of different meals!

What are some of your favourite food pairings? Let me know in the comments.

Love, Kayla xx
