BBG vs BBG Stronger
BBG vs BBG Stronger
As you ladies know, last year I released a brand new program in the SWEAT app, called BBG Stronger! I absolutely love it and I am feeling even stronger than ever!
Because I now have two different training programs, I wanted to explain some of the differences between them, and how they actually work, for those of you who might be new to my workouts. Think of this as your handy guide to BBG workouts!
Bikini Body Guide (BBG for short)
I’ve written about what BBG is before, so this time I wanted to explain a little bit more about how it works. The Bikini Body Guide, or BBG, is a fitness program that I created with Tobi back in 2014. BBG combines 28-minute high-intensity resistance sessions, as well as low-intensity and high-intensity cardio, to help you become fitter and stronger.
BBG was originally released as a 12-week program in ebook format, but now that BBG is in the SWEAT app, there are 72 weeks of workouts! BBG workouts use minimal equipment, so you can do them pretty much anywhere — at home, outdoors or in the gym. While 28-minute workouts sound short, they’re definitely challenging!
Let me answer a few questions for you about BBG!
How do the circuits work in BBG?
If you’re new to BBG, you might find the circuits a little confusing to begin with, so hopefully this helps. In each 28-minute resistance workouts, there are two sets of circuits. Each circuit has four exercises, which you try to complete as many times as you can in 7 minutes. So, when the timer starts, you begin with the first exercise and follow the number of reps it indicates. You then move on to the next exercise and do the same thing. Once the timer stops after 7 minutes, you rest for 30 seconds, reset the timer for another 7 minutes and start circuit 2.
What equipment do I need for BBG?
There are a few pieces of equipment you can use to maximise your BBG workouts, like a Bosu, a set of dumbbells, a medicine ball, kettlebell and a skipping rope. If you don’t have this equipment available, don’t stress! Lots of BBG girls use substitutions instead, or they modify the exercises (like swapping bosu burpees for regular burpees).
So, now you know more about BBG, let me explain how it differs to BBG Stronger!
I created BBG Stronger because I know there are some girls who LOVE training in the gym. This way you can incorporate some of your favourite pieces of equipment, like the smith machine or leg press, into your workouts. It teaches you to workout with weights and equipment by showing a video tutorial — so you’ll get to know more about gym equipment if you’re new to it!
Like BBG, the workouts in BBG Stronger are 28-minute circuits that can be done along with LISS (Low-Intensity Steady State) and HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) cardio.
These are a few questions I get asked regularly about BBG Stronger:
How is BBG Stronger different to BBG?
The workouts and overall program are similar, but basically BBG Stronger uses more weights and some gym equipment for resistance workouts.
Can I only do BBG Stronger in the gym?
Many of the workouts in BBG Stronger use equipment, so I recommend doing it at the gym to achieve the best results for yourself. Unless you have a well-equipped gym at home!
I’m just starting BBG Stronger — what weight should I be using?
There is a weight range guide available in the equipment list, so you know what weight to select if you are new to the program. That way, you can find a weight within that range that you are comfortable with (or you can increase it slightly if it’s not challenging enough).
Is BBG Stronger a 12-week program like BBG?
I’ve recently added 12 more weeks to BBG Stronger, so you can continue your journey! Once those weeks are over, you can repeat the program and simply increase the weights a little.
So, there you have it, ladies! That’s a little bit of background and some tips on following my programs. I’m really excited about releasing some new workouts for BBG Stronger, I hope you love it!
If there are any questions about BBG or BBG Stronger I haven’t answered that you’d like to ask, let me know in the comments!
Love, Kayla xx
